dos Santos to Spurs?


According to the dailystar Barcelona youngster Dos Santos is on his way to Spurs.

SPURS have won the race to sign Barcelona wonderkid Giovani Dos Santos.

The youngster – who can play as a striker or attacking midfielder – will arrive in a £12.5m deal, sources in Spain confirmed last night.

Real Madrid try to ease tension


Looks like Man Utd’s threat to report Real Madrid to Fifa has done the job.

This is what Real president Ramon Calderon had to say:

“We haven’t done, nor will we do anything against the wishes of a club that we consider a friend like Manchester United,”

“Our relationship with Manchester is magnificent and we will not do anything that would violate the will of a team, just as we would not like that done to us.

“We know Manchester doesn’t want to sell and we have nothing to say. It’s a problem between the player and his team.”

ah, nothing like a bit of threatening between friends, eh

Piqué returns to Barcelona


Gerard Pique is set to return to Barcelona after the Spanish side reached an agreement with Manchester United.

The defender opted to leave Camp Nou four years ago because he felt that he would have a better chance of breaking through at Old Trafford.

Ribery was voted Bundesliga player of the year


France midfielder Franck Ribery was voted Bundesliga player of the year in a poll of 268 league players published in Kicker newspaper on Monday.

Ribery won 57.8 percent of the vote, well ahead of his Bayern Munich team mate Luca Toni of Italy, the league’s leading scorer, who came in second place with 24.8 percent.

Mancini not interested in Chelsea job


Roberto Mancini has received no contact from Chelsea regarding the vacant manager’s job at Stamford Bridge, according to his representative.

“He (Mancini) has a four-year contract with Inter and he is very happy to stay there,” De Giorgis told Sky Sports News.

American clubs say 'no' to Shevchenko


The fortunes of £31million Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko have plummeted so low that clubs in America’s Major League Soccer are turning down the opportunity to sign him.

Shevchenko’s name has been circulated to several MLS clubs as the 31-year-old plans an escape route out of Stamford Bridge.

Ferguson to quit within 3 years


Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed his intention to step down as Manchester United manager within the next three years.

The Scot had previously announced plans to retire at the end of the 2001/02 season; however he made a dramatic U-turn in February 2002, agreeing to stay on at the club.

But Ferguson, 66, has now revealed his intention to quit his managerial role at United before he turns 70-years-old.

Chelsea sack Grant


Chelsea have sacked manager Avram Grant after just eight months in charge.

The decision followed two days of talks between Grant, 53, and the club’s chief executive Peter Kenyon.

The Israeli coach’s position had been subject to intense speculation after Chelsea finished runners-up in the Premier League and Champions League.

Wenger: Lassana Diarra panicked


Arsène Wenger believes that Lassana Diarra panicked when he left Arsenal to join Portsmouth in January, and the Arsenal manager has defended his decision not to strengthen the squad during the January transfer window.

Diarra had only been at the club since last August following his move from Chelsea where the midfield player had become frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities.

Anderlecht riots [Video]


More than 200 Anderlecht football fans and youths of African origin clashed on Friday in fighting organised on the Internet which left police officers injured and led to widespread vandalism, a police spokesman said.

“We have made a number of arrests, but we are so busy at the moment, we will have to wait until the trouble is over before we can give out any more information,” the spokesman said.
